Joanna Swaiss

Law Clerk

Joanna Swaiss is a law clerk who sat for the July 2026 Ohio Bar Exam. A desire to help clients navigate difficult moments in their lives motivated Swaiss, a first-generation law student, to pursue a career in the legal field.

Before graduating from law school and joining Kohl & Cook, Swaiss worked at Blank Rome, the Ohio Innocence Project, the Children’s Law Center, and Musillo Unkenholt. She also externed for the Honorable Judge Michael Barrett in federal court. Through these experiences, Swaiss developed practical skills across multiple areas of law and learned to approach complex, high-stakes matters with diligence and compassion.

During law school, Swaiss was selected to participate in the University of Cincinnati Law Review. Her legal research has been published on the journal’s website.

Swaiss has strong family ties to Ohio and looks forward to building her career at Kohl & Cook.
